Gastronomes, avert your eyes.

This is lunch at The Hegemon. It's been lunch every day since mid-June. It costs 99p, is refrigerated to the point of hurting my teeth, and is served in plastic.

Despite this, nobody has as yet described me as a shadow of my former self.

Perhaps if you bought one less book a week you might be able to afford another of the delicious dishes (or should I say teaspoons, looking at the size of the portions) that they have on offer!

It's not parsimony that restricts me to this measly, limp excuse for food. It's the disappearance of my toes from sight.
